Sumizome, or Sumi, as he's called by his friends, was born on Earth, in Cambridge, MA. Being bi-racial (his mom's white and his dad's black,) he does his best to avoid any discussion of race because it is something he's very confused about.
When Sumi comes to the Snickers Galaxy, he is very content because the people there are so diverse and understanding. Then he falls in love with one of the Senshi and feels even more at home in the Room Behind the Waterfall.
