The product of a forbidden affair between a high-ranking Quermian bureaucrat and a Tatooine slave, Fumetsu was left for dead by his impoverished mother soon after his birth in the Dune Sea. The infant, having been picked up by a wandering bounty hunter who recognized the child's telepathic abilities, was sold to Jabba the Hutt for a handsome sum. From that young age, Fumetsu was trained to be the gangster's most successful negotiator ever, and to take advantage of the apparent vulnerability of his youth, he was forced to take part in formal negotiations at the tender age of eight. When he reached the rebellion of puberty, however, Fumetsu refused to negotiate, and he was demoted first to prep cooking, then to the horrors of the worst janitorial work. Despite his disgusting job, he maintained an optimistic outlook, imagining the day when he would rise from slavery to teach at Quermia's foremost telepathy school.
One day while taking a break from hauling his master's excrement, Fumetsu was introduced by a friend to Oola Tarkona, a talented Twi'lek dancer recently obtained by Jabba. The pair were immediately attracted to each other, and they soon fell in love, spending as much time together as they could. Upon hearing of Oola's supposed demise in the rancor pit, Fumetsu became deeply depressed, a mood from which he was lifted only by a rumor that she had, in fact, lived and had traveled back some thirty years to join the Sailor Jedi and fight crime and injustice. Seeking only the company of Oola, the Quermian slave convinced Sailor Yavin to let him journey back in time to join his love, when she informed him that he was, in fact, a warrior for his father's homeworld, the Quermian Knight.
