On Yavin IV, Mara and Luke's family and friends were celebrating Bebi's seventh birthday. The people at the party were Luke, Mara, their son Ben - Bebi was upstairs getting some beauty rest - Han, Leia, their kids, Vegeta, Bulma, Trunks, Chichi, Goku, and Goten. The sun was beginning to set, and soon night would fall over the ancient temples.
In the main temple, a party was just beginning. Luke and Mara were preparing dinner in the kitchen. In the living quarters were Jacen, Jaina, Anakin, two young lavender-haired boys, and a young black-haired boy playing a game with Vegeta and Goku, while Han and Leia were busy talking to Bulma and Chichi.
Mara suddenly sighed. "Luke, it's getting a little stuffy in here. I'm going to go out for a walk, need some air."
Luke took her hand. "Don't ki-blast anything. You don't know what kind of ancient spirits that may be lurking if you destroy a temple or something."
Mara kissed him, then let him go. "Luke, I know my way around this planet. Besides, you can trust me. Besides, I would never do such a thing; Yavin IV means a lot to me."
Mara stepped out of the kitchen and into the living quarters. "I'll be back everybody, I'm going for a walk."
Vegeta looked up from his game. "Mara, please come in before dusk."
Mara waved her hand as she passed him. "Yeah, yeah, Veggie. Oooh, beware of the full moon! If I see it, I'll make sure to run back in, or you can drag me by the tail like the last time."
Her brother glared at her. "That isn't funny, woman!"
Goku glanced at his friend. "What's wrong, Vegeta?"
Vegeta watched his sister depart. "I just hope that there won't be a full moon tonight."
Luke chuckled. "What, you're saying she might turn into a giant ape?"
Vegeta frowned. "Well, she almost went ape on Belkadan after we killed Anor. I had to drag her into the ship by the tail. Hmph, after I finish beating Kakarott at this game, I'm going outside to get her!"
Mara walked outside and towards the entrance to the jungle. "What a beautiful sunset, it's just gorgeous." The sun was going down, painting the sky red, yellow, and orange. A few stars were beginning to peek out, and the moon began to rise. She kept on walking, admiring the other ancient temples and listening to the sound of the jungle birds and animals.
Night began to fall, and it was getting dark. She looked up at the dark sky, and her eyes were drawn to the moon. Suddenly, she felt a strange vibration coming from her chest. It was her heart, beating very loudly.
Mara suddenly froze. "Ugh, oh no, the moon!" She looked up at the rising full moon. "I don't know how to control it; I should have listened to Vegerrrrarr!"
Mara's transformation began to take place. Her eyes turned red, and she began to grow to a mammoth size, shredding whatever she wore. Fur spread to all parts of her body. She grew fangs and a large snout; the beast howled at the moon. Mara had become an Oozaru - a giant ape. The ape growled and looked around her surroundings and began to wander through the jungle.
Vegeta felt his sister's power level increase. "Woman! What did I tell you!"
Luke, Bulma, and the others heard an animal roaring in the distance.
Luke mumbled. "She went ape, didn't she? By the force, her power is tremendous!"
Ben pulled at his father's shirt. "Papa, I want to see what she looks like!"
Luke shouted. "Everyone, to the top of the temple; we have to see how far she is from us!"
Everyone ran to the top of the temple.
Ben grabbed on to his father's arm. "Is that Mama out there? She's pretty big and furry."
Luke nodded. "Don't worry, I don't think she'll hurt us. Besides, she's very far away."
I'm glad that I had the kid's tails removed - more of these beasts would be a handful, Luke thought.
Ben cried. "Mama!"
Vegeta shushed his young nephew. "Be quiet, brat. You don't want to disturb her."
The ape turned and saw everybody. Suddenly, she headed towards the temple.
Chichi shouted. "Oh great! Everyone, back inside, she's coming!"
Everyone gathered in the main hall, and Luke grabbed his lightsaber. "I'll have to go get her, even if I have to cut off the tail."
Vegeta stopped Luke. "Luke, let me go. I should have taught her to control it."
Luke gripped the saber. "No, it will be better if I did it."
Luke ran out the door and into the night.
Vegeta shouted, "Come back here! I can teach her to control it."
Vegeta grabbed Mara's capsule case that held her capsules. Capsules are small capsule-like objects that can hold cars, ships, or personal things. They were created by Bulma Briefs' dad, Dr. Briefs. Vegeta opened the case. "Ahh, for the Saiyan who has everything. Let me see, a change of clothes, lightsabers, a landspeeder, aircar, capsule house, meditation chamber, gravity room, blasters, and chocolate."
He closed the case and put it in his pocket. "Kakarott, I may need your help.
Goku whined, "But Vegeta, I'm trying to play this game."
"Oh, go and play your stupid game!" he snapped.
Just then, Tionne ran inside, panting. "There is a giant beast out there, and it has Master Skywalker in its hand! Someone kill the ugly thing!"
Vegeta gave her a glare. "That's my sister, you airhead!"
Tionne's face turned red. "That's Master Skywalker? What happened?"
Vegeta looked flustered. "There is a gland in her tail. When she sees the full moon, the gland reacts to the moon's rays, and that's when the transformation begins. Okay?"
Tionne nodded. "Okay."
Leia, Bulma, and the others kept cool as Vegeta flew out the door. Vegeta found the giant ape; she was heading towards the main temple.
She had Luke in one of her hands. "Help! Hey, it seems like Queen Kong got me. Goodness sake, Mara, I'm your husband, put me down!"
Vegeta looked up at him, "She's lost her wits; she doesn't know what you're saying!"
The ape looked down at the figure below. To her, he wasn't her brother, just another annoying pest. She swatted him away like a gnat. She growled and tried to crush the man, but he was too quick for her.
Luke didn't like the look of this. "This is worse than the rancor!"
Leia shouted, "Luke, I'm coming!"
Ben shouted, "No way am I missing this. Come on guys!" Ben, Trunks, and Goten ran after Leia. Chichi and Han followed too.
Just then, Ben stepped forward. "Mama!"
Luke shouted, "Ben, step away."
When Mara saw her son, she got very quiet. The creature suddenly calmed down and looked down at the small child.
"Cool, thanks brat, I've always seen you as my second son." Vegeta got through to her mind. "Endaibu, stop, put Luke down gently!"
With a graceful nod, the ape put Luke down. "Okay, Vegeta," she growled.
Luke joined everyone and watched as Vegeta spoke to his sister. He clipped his lightsaber on his belt.
Leia whispered, "You're going to let her keep the tail?"
Luke snickered. "Well, we can have Oozaru rides at the kid's birthday parties."
Chichi smacked him. "Shame on you, Luke, that's not very nice."
Luke rubbed his head. "I was just joking."
Vegeta spoke gently to her, "You're speaking better, good. Now, you can control this form. Remember, you are a Saiyan Elite; you are the Princess of Planet Vegeta. I could control it when I had my tail, and so can you. Just calm down."
Mara sat and looked down at the man below her. "Yes, I'm calming down now."
"Good." Vegeta opened the clothes capsule, complete with a changing room.
Mara shrank to SSJ4. Fiery red fur covered her body, and she was a little bit muscular, with blue-green eyes and black hair.
Vegeta crossed his arms. "Level Four, not bad. Come back, Endaibu."
Mara shrank down to Super Saiyan Three, with long golden hair, lightning surrounding her, and green eyes. Mara went to level two, with much shorter spiky hair, smoother muscles, green eyes, and lightning surrounding her. Then to level one, Mara was enveloped in a gold aura; she still had spiky gold hair and green eyes, but the lightning was gone, and her muscles were not too bulky. When Mara was back to her normal self, she ran into her changing room and came back out in a blue gi with white gloves and boots. She encapsuled the room and put the capsule in its case.
She ran to Ben and hugged him. "Thanks, brat. I hope I didn't scare you."
Ben smirked. "No way, I'm not afraid of anything, and I have to say this - that was cool! Can you do it again, Mom?"
Ben, Trunks, Goten, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin looked at her with big smiles on their faces.
Mara sighed. "Maybe next time, I think everyone had enough excitement for one day. And Luke, no Oozaru rides!" she snapped.
Luke turned red. "How did you know?"
"When we are transformed, we have very acute hearing. I could hear a pin drop a mile away. Just be happy that I didn't use my mouth blast, Skywalker." She glared at him.
Luke walked past her. "If you did that, you can kiss your gravity room goodbye."
Mara grumbled, "All right, Luke - you win this time!"
Everyone went back into the temple to have something to eat, except for Mara and Vegeta.She hugged her brother. "Thanks Vegeta, I owe you one."
"Thank our sibling bond, and who knows - Kakarott or Luke would have removed your tail and would have saved the day anyway," Vegeta said as he looked at the stars.
"Ahh, no need for Kakarott, it's your turn to be the hero, and I'm glad that's over with." She sighed.
"By the way, Endaibu, when are you and Luke going to take another vacation?" he asked her.
"You want to take Ben and Bebi off our hands?" Mara gazed at him.
"Yes, I want to train Ben to be a Super Saiyan." Vegeta had a serious look in his eye.
"I don't know if Luke will approve." She grabbed his arm and started to lead him back into the temple.
Vegeta stopped. "Oh, come on, he has the power, let him use it."
Mara turned to him. "Why don't we let the boy decide. We'll talk about it at dinner, Vegeta. But Luke may not like the idea."
Suddenly Ben ran out of the temple. "Mama! Uncle Veggie! Trunks taught me something cool!"
Mara looked at her brother, then at Ben. "What did you learn from Trunks?"
"This!" Ben's hair turned gold, his eyes a jade green, and a golden aura surrounded him. "I'm a Super Saiyan!"
Mara gasped, "Um, Ben, did your father see that yet?"
Ben nodded, "Yes, then he passed out when he saw me do it."
Mara shrugged. "Ahh, he'll live! Luke has been through worse. Besides, brat, you're like me, a jedi with a Saiyan soul, so don't forget that."
"I won't, Mama," he said with his eyes gleaming bright green.
"So is dinner ready yet, brat?" Mara asked softly.
Ben powered down. "Yes."
"Good! Let's go in before Kakarott eats everything," Vegeta commented.
"I'll agree with you there, Veggie." Mara gave him a thumbs up.
"Goku already started eating, mama," Ben said with a smile.
Ben felt himself being picked up and flown into the into the temple by his uncle, with Mara following them. The three immediately rejoined the party with their friends and loved ones, and a great time was had by all.
