Son of Skywalker: Tale of The Coruscant Knight

Written by Sukai Kami/Ben V. Skywalker/Coruscant Knight

I remember the night I was born. It was a clear night with the moon shining brightly. Inside the old palace, in her arms, I looked up into my mother's emerald green eyes. What I saw were tears of joy, but I also saw something else. A hidden past. I could hear her say to my father, "Let's name him after our mentors, Luke."

I saw my father's gentle face. He smiled at me and touched my hand. "All right Mara, I will name him Benjamin after Ben Kenobi."

My mother smirked. "His middle name will be Vegeta. After the man who taught me."

My father's smile faded. "At least you didn't name him Palpatine."

Mother glared at father for a while. "Don't you ever mention that name again. Before I became a senshi, Emperor's hand, or your wife, I was Mara Hisui."

Father scratched his head, his hair now silvery white. "You still can remember that long dead Saiyan."

Mother sighed. "Prince Vegeta saved me. If it weren't for him, I would never have known my potential, Luke. I know how stubborn, arrogant, and distant he was. But that was the old Vegeta. When I met him, he was tough, but he was honest, and he knew that I had the strength to save the galaxy."

That was the first time I had learned about my mother's past as a senshi. Years went by; I grew stronger and smarter; Mother and Father taught me everything I wanted to know.

But I wanted to know something else. I wanted to know about my mother's past as a senshi.

One day I came into her office, and I saw her standing at the window. "What is it, brat?" Mother loved to joke around, still has that sense of humor.

"Mother, can you tell me about the senshi?"

Mother closed her eyes. The wind blew through her long red gold hair. "A long time ago, on a planet very far away, I was Mara Hisui of New York City. I had just lost my parents in a car accident. I was alone. I began to lose faith in myself, I got spoiled, and I really went downhill." She took out a gold locket that had a few buttons on it. She went through a few holopictures. Some were of my father, me, my sister Bebi, Aunt Leia, Uncle Han, my cousins and their kids.

She stopped at a group picture. It was of her and a group of girls and a few guys. She told me their names; she told me all of their adventures and misadventures. She told me war stories, and she talked about peace. That's when I made my decision.

"Mother, I want help save the galaxy! I want to learn how to defend. I know you have told me about the senshi and your experiences with Vegeta and Goku. Well, I want to see who you were - I want to meet Sailor Vjun. Mom, I want to be a senshi!"

Mother put the picture locket down and walked over to her desk. "I knew this day would come, boy. So, you want to see what your old lady was like when she was a punk like you?" I saw her open a drawer, and she took out a purple box with the crest of the New Republic combined with the crest of Vjun.

I looked curiously at the box. "Is that for me?"

Mother walked over to me and placed the box in my hands. "Ben, it was made just for you. Open the box." I opened the box. it was a lightsaber, with the same crest on it's hilt. Mother smiled. "Now touch the crest on the lightsaber."

I was enveloped in lavender light. My clothes were changed; I was dressed in a black leather jacket, black pants, tank top, and brown boots. I put the saber on my back hilt.

Mother snapped, "Ben, try out your saber!" I took my saber out and snapped it on. It glowed a rich electric blue. "It's beautiful!" I sighed. I exstinguished the saber, touched the crest once more and detransformed, and put the saber back.

Mother put her hand on my shoulder, "Welcome, Coruscant Knight. Now you need a Japanese earth name."

I snapped my fingers. "I am Sukai Kami! God of the sky! I fight for Diversity and Expression! In the face of oppression, hatred, and ignorance, I will be there to defeat them! I am the senshi of Expression and Diversity! In the name of Skywalker, you bakayaros, I will punish you!"

I could see mom's pride swell and soar. "You are my son! Now brat, get something to eat - your father has made dinner."

I cringed, "But Mom, Father couldn't make braised bantha."

Mom patted my back and led me out the door. "Benjamin Vegeta Skywalker, your father's cooking has improved. Threepio and Chef LaGasse of the Menarii are teaching him as we speak. He's going to make a wonderful dinner for you." I heard her laugh softly as we walked down to the dining hall.

"Well, mother, why isn't Bebi coming?" I have a sister named Bebi Hisui, which means Baby Jade. She's an exact sixteen-year-old female replica of my father.

Mother shook her head. "Bebi is training with Jaina, and besides, she's not interested. She wants to stay home."

Dinner began to smell good now, not all burnt and crispy. I opened the door; there was my family. "Suprise, Benjamin!" they all yelled in unison. It was the beginning of a new day.

It was a great party. Mom, Dad, Bebi, and my other family members were there. Father had fixed a great supper. After dinner, I helped him with the dishes. "Ben, I am so proud of you. You have grown in your studies and in your training. You have made me very happy. I wish you could have met your grandfather." I remembered what my father had told me about Anakin Skywalker, the man once known and feared as Darth Vader. But I only see him as Anakin, the hero of the Clone Wars, the man who killed the Emperor and redeemed himself in the process. My mother hates it when I mention Palpatine; she called him a tyrant and told me never to speak that name again. She still held the bitterness - no wonder it made her so tough and arrogant.

Father told me that her heart used to be like stone. She hated my father so much that she wanted to kill him. But something changed, she began to soften, but she was still strong, but after I was born she became very caring, although her attitude and personality are still the same. My mother and father shared a bond, and it was a strong one.

I looked at my father. "Thank you, Father." He still had that youthful twinkle in his blue eyes. I've seen holopictures of him as a boy. He was the hero of the galaxy, a man who had many adventures. Now it was my turn to have those adventures.

After the dishes were finished, Father hugged me. "Ben, get some rest. You'll be leaving first thing in the morning." I nodded and left the kitchen, and I headed up to my room.

"Hello, Master Ben." I heard Threepio's voice over the intercom, then Artoo chimed in, beeping a greeting.

"Good morning Threepio, Artoo," I said back to them.

Then I heard the sound of someone clearing her throat. "Morning, Bebi, brat." There stood my sister.

I threw a pillow at the opposing menace. "What are you grinning at? Happy to see me leave?"

She shook her head. "No, big brother, I just want to tell you that mom and dad are waiting downstairs for you. The time gate is ready."

Bebi left the doorway, and I jumped out of bed, changed, and took my suitcase and my saber. I took the elevator to the old throne room and through the door to the botanical garden. My father, sister, and mother were standing at the gate with a woman who looked familiar.

"Ben, this is Ippin. She will send you to the past." She was one of the girls in the holopicture that mother had.

"Hi, I'm Ben, but you can call me Kami."

Ippin smiled. "Nice to meet you. Are you ready to go. The senshi are in Golden Gate Park, I'll be able to take you there."

I nodded. "Sure, will my mother be there?"

She nodded. "Of course."

I waved farewell to my family; I went to the past; I went to Earth. We came to Golden Gate Park. Ippin said she had some business, but she would be back later.

How could I approach them? I couldn't tell my young mother that I am her son. I held Mother's locket in my hand. Yes, the group of girls and guys were there. I walked over to them and introduced myself. "Hello, you don't mind if I join you?"

A woman with red-gold hair looked at me. "You look familiar, you little punk. Where have I seen you before?"

Zyta smiled. "Don't mind her, she's like that. That's Mara. She's kind of arrogant, if you know what I mean. Rumor is that she was raised by Saiyans." Mara growled, crossed her arms, and stood against a tree.

"Okay, now that she's away, I will tell you who I am." The group listened as I told them about me.

Then I heard Mara say, "So, you're my little Bejita."

I turned around and gazed into green eyes that held an eternal fire. "You heard?"

She nodded, "Hey, when you're one with the Force, anything is possible." She slapped me on the back. "Welcome Coruscant Knight, it's great to have you aboard, brat!"
