“Kirana! Guess what?” Andrien grinned at his wife.
“I don’t know... what?” Jedi Princess Kirana of Omwat asked.
“We’re going to visit the resort on the Mulako Corporation Primordial Water Quarry - it’s a comet. I’ve already arranged it.”
“Okay, so... when do we leave?” the pearlescent-haired princess wanted to know.
Andrien’s grey eyes sparkled. “Oh, in about thirty minutes,” he said, grinning.
“WHAT?!?! I’m not packed or-”
“Don’t worry, Kirana,” he said. “I’ve already got all your stuff packed. And the ship’s waiting!”
She smiled at her streak-haired husband. “I love you,” she said.
They arrived at the comet about two hours later.
Kirana figured that since they were royalty they would be treated well. She wasn’t snobby - that’s just how it was.
“Wow,” Kirana said in awe. “It’s beautiful!”
The resort was full of water and tropical caverns. Their room was no exception. It was the biggest suite in the place, decorated in ice blue and green, with icy walls. Also, the walls were covered with clear glass so the tropical fish could be viewed. The furniture was ice blue and green as well, in soft, silky fabrics.
“I love it!” Andrien decided. “It’s paradise.”
“This is going to be the best vacation ever,” Kirana exclaimed. Poor Kirana. If she only knew how wrong she was...
“Dinner is in three hours,” the owner said and left.
“Wow, I still can’t believe the beauty of this place,” Kirana said.
“And I can’t believe the beauty of you,” Andrien said.
Kirana smiled. “Andrien...” She hugged him. “You are the best husband anyone could ever want,” she whispered.
“Well, I try,” he joked.
She giggled and hit him with one of the light-green pillows. Soon, they were having a pillow fight.
Princess Kirana got dressed for dinner. She was wearing a beautiful dress, ice blue and green, to match the resort’s colors. Her long pearlescent hair was up in an intricate style, with blue and green seashells adorning it. She also had a necklace, with blue and green shells made from rare Corusca gems.
“Kirana, do I have to dress up?” Andrien complained. He was wearing his best suit, and he looked very good in it.
“If I have to, you have to,” Kirana said, turning around. Her necklace glittered in the bright light.
“You look beautiful,” Andrien whispered.
The Omwati princess smiled.
The dining room was as pretty, if not prettier, than Kirana and Andrien’s suite. It had a view of the stars, and Kirana got to sit across from it. The food was delicious, made by one of the best cooks in the galaxy, Yarid K’ ta’ Re. Kirana and Andrien enjoyed the dinner, despite the rather strange people sitting next to them.
“Aren’t you the princess of Omwat?” one of the weird people, a woman with chin-length cherry red hair, asked Kirana.
“Yes,” she replied.
“Oh.” The woman gave her an odd look. Kirana felt uncomfortable but ignored the woman and concentrated on enjoying herself.
After dinner, Andrien stayed to talk with the owner while Kirana decided to explore the resort. She walked down a long, narrow hallway, done in -what else - ice blue and green. She paused to look at an ice sculpture. It was beautiful and perfectly crafted. Then, suddenly, Kirana heard a voice call her name. It was Andrien’s voice.
She took off running, despite her long dress. She knew where the sound was coming from - the basement of the resort. She pulled on the door, but it wouldn’t open. Sighing, she reached for her lightsaber, which was hidden under her long skirt. She activated it and left a smoldering hole in the wall.
Kirana ran in, surprised at what she found. Andrien was sitting in a chair, tied up. “Kirana! Save yourself! It’s a trap!” he whispered. But the princess shook her head, refusing to leave her true love. She ran to him and had the ropes off in seconds. But it was seconds too late.
“Aw, is the Princess trying to save her prince?” asked a voice dripping with sarcasm.
Kirana looked up to see the woman from the dinner table. “My name is Simone,” she said. “And this,” the man who had been sitting next to her came forward, “is Yko.” She grinned wickedly, showing off her perfect white teeth. “And you, my dear, are about to be assassinated.” She pointed a blaster at Kirana.
“Not if I have anything to say about it,” Kirana and Andrien said at once.
Simone arched one perfect, red eyebrow. “Oh yeah? We’ll see about that,” she laughed. “Maybe I should kill Princie first,” she said.
“No!” Kirana cried.
The woman laughed cruelly and fired a shot. Kirana threw herself in front of Andrien, but he pushed her away. The bolt hit him full in the chest.
She gasped in horror and ran over to him. He was lying on the floor, though if he was alive or not she could not tell. “YOU!” she screamed at the red-haired woman. “You’re gonna PAY!”
Simone laughed, a cruel laugh. “Oh yeah?” she asked.
Kirana felt the anger boil inside her. She felt as if her insides were on fire. She grabbed her lightsaber and ran toward the woman with it. As she was about to whack her, she remembered something - anger was the Dark Side. She was a Jedi Princess, and if she turned to the Dark Side now-
“We’ll be going now,” Simone laughed, her voice sounding crazed. She and Yko simply left Kirana behind.
“Andrien!” she cried, running up to his limp body. She tried to see if he had a pulse, but her hands were shaking violently. She was overjoyed when his mouth moved. He said, “Kirana... leave... try to be strong... without... me.”
“NO!” she cried. “I won’t let you die, Andrien, I WON’T!” She realized there was nothing she could do to help him. She sobbed, her head against his chest. “I’ll never forget you,” she whispered and began to walk away.
“How touching,” said a sarcastic voice. Kirana turned, slowly, to the sound of the voice. Sure enough, Simone stood there, her blaster pointed at Kirana.
“I thought you left-” Kirana said in confusion.
“Me, pass up a chance to murder an Omwati Princess?” she laughed. “I don’t think so...” She fired the shot.
Kirana’s last thought was that she and Andrien would be together...
“Kirana,” a voice said. It belonged to Queen Amidala.
“Who are you? Where am I?” Kirana asked.
“I am Queen Amidala, and you are about to be reborn,” the Queen said. “To a different time, where people need you. Andrien will be reborn also. Don’t be afraid; you will fulfill your destiny...” Her voice trailed off.
Kirana looked at Andrien, his grey eyes warm and loving. “We’ll be together soon,” he whispered.
