Sutaru tried to hide a snicker, but was unable to cover it. The tall brunette beside her on the couch threw a little pillow at her, and it landed with a "poof" on her head.
"Will you stop that, Sutaru? It can not possibly be that funny," the thrower muttered, sulking on the couch.
"But Mama-san! It's funny! I mean, right now my big brother is sitting right here -" Sutaru poked Tenshi in the tummy for emphasis "- and he's gonna be born in the past!"
Tenshi sighed. "First of all, how do you know it's your brother? It could very well be a girl!"
The blonde man that sat beside Tenshi chuckled. "Or knowing your family, one of each.." Pillow in the face. "Now what was that for?"
"Don't be the harbinger!! Now Sutaru, I ask again, how do you know it's a boy?"
Sutaru leaned back on the couch. "We came from the past, remember? And there, my family starts with a boy! And that's destiny, and destiny can't be changed, right Xarae?" She raised her voice toward the end, projecting her statement to Xarae, across the Room Behind the Waterfall.
"Right." Xarae went back to whatever she was doing.
"All right, that's one in your favor. Number two, how do you know I won't just go back to our future before he's born?"
Ippin happened to be walking by. "Because time travel is dangerous during pregnancy - you know that, Tenshi." She walked on.
"Two for me, none for you, Mama-san!" Sutaru stuck out her tongue.
Tenshi leaned back and rested her head on her hands. "Okay fine. Two points." She closed her eyes. "But this is crazy. I didn't really expect this to happen, but I guess I have to go with it." As she spoke, she opened her eyes, and her hands dropped into her lap.
Souru took her hand and interlaced his fingers with hers. "It'll be all right. You know if you need anything I'll be here, and you're surrounded by friends and even a few family members... and you're in a Jedi Temple! You have nothing to worry about."
"Thank you." Tenshi smiled, relaxing. She stood up. "I think I'll go take a nap now. Long day. Love you!" She kissed her fingers, touched them to Souru's lips, and walked back to her room.
"Daddy, that's a load of bull and you know it. Mom's got plenty to worry about. Why'd you say that?" Sutaru turned her back to the corner of the couch and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Because she needed to relax. And she does. It's been, what, two months since the Kai incident, and she's gonna drive us wild soon, and you know it. I can sense that kid's developing mind, Suta. If she doesn't relax, he'll have problems with his development, mostly his Force sense." Souru shook his head. "I can't let that happen, Suta. For some reason, I just can't, and I haven't the slightest idea why." He leaned his elbows on his knees and spread his hands. "Do you know what I mean, Sutaru?"
"Yes, actually Daddy I do. It's that Daddy thing in you." She held up a finger and mimicked Yoda surprisingly well. "Stronger than the Force, it is." She giggled.
"Guess you're right. Well, kiddo -" he glanced at his watch "- I promised Kagerou I'd show him how to use a lightsaber, so I guess I'll see ya." Souru ruffled her hair and walked out of the room.
Asellus bounced onto the couch, her golden locks tied up into a thick ponytail. "What was that about, Suta-chan?"
"Daddy's worried about my mom, Zelly-chan, and I'm not surpirsed.." She looked off in the direction of her parents' room.
"Well your Mommy is gonna have a baby - I guess it's only natural, Suta-chan," Asellus shrugged. "I bet you three cookies my Daddy'd be the same way if my Mommy was pregnant. Suta, I've got to ask you this... It's a given that you're gonna have a big brother, right?"
"Yeah. That's not gonna change. What's your question?"
"What's his name? I gotta know." Asellus leaned forward.
"Well... His name is Luke Trunks." She winked. "I have a cousin named Trunks, and Luke Skywalker's my uncle. Mommy and Daddy decided to follow my Aunt Mara's example."
"You mean, you're related to our Mara? And Ben?? Then I guess... in the long run you're related to Yuki, Aisu and Hisako too! Holey moley Sutaru you got lots of family here!!" Asellus nearly fell over.
Sutaru laughed. This wasn't the first person who'd traced her family tree through the senshi ranks. A few were kind of envious that she was related to so many of the senshi, but that didn't bother her. She liked bugging her cousin Ben anyway. "Calm down, Zelly-chan."
"Okay. Guess I'll leave you alone now... bye!" Asellus got up and ran into Nom's kitchen. Sutaru fell over on the couch and laughed some more, then got up and wandered out of the room, leaving the couch to collect other occupants.
