Kirana had made up her mind. She was going back to Omwat.
“Why?” asked Oola.
“Because I want to find out more about my past life,” Kirana said. “I hardly remember anything. Maybe this will help me.”
That evening, Mika came into Kirana’s room. “Do you want me to come with you?” she asked.
Kirana smiled. Mika was a very good friend of hers. Kirana even saved her life once. One of the Angels7 tried to steal Mika’s soul, but Kirana jumped in front of her and they stole hers instead. In the end, Mika helped to save Kirana.
“No, thanks,” Kirana said. “I have to do this alone.”
Mika nodded. “I understand,” she said. “Good luck, Kirana.”
The next day, Kirana (with the help of Priire!) arrived at Omwat. Omwat was a beautiful world, with rolling hills of orange and green. Kirana was greeted by a beautiful Omwati woman, with pearlescent hair like her own.
“My name is Shira,” she said, “and I welcome you.”
“I’m trying to find the palace,” Kirana said.
Shira frowned. “You mean the ruins?”
Kirana’s heart sank. The ruins? What happened to it? “Um, yes, I suppose,” Kirana said.
“Here,” Shira said, handing Kirana a map.
It took Kirana quite a while to reach the blue stone palace- or at least the ruins of it. Kirana walked cautiously through the dusty door. Inside it was dark and abandoned. How did it get like this? Kirana wondered. She walked over to what had once been a pair of thrones. She looked at the larger one, and saw the word “Clovetra” inscribed on it. The smaller one said “Kirana.”
Then she suddenly realized something. Her throne and her mother’s were there, but not her father’s - what happened to him? Did he die? Kirana was puzzled.
She walked down a once-exquisite hall and stopped at a door. She knew - she just KNEW - that this had been her room. Inside, the room was incredibly well-preserverd. The tapestries were a beautiful lilac color, and the pictures on the wall hung straight. One of those pictures was of Andrien.
Kirana sat down on the bed, feeling dizziness overwhelm her. She remembered the first time that had happened - Sailor Vjun said it was “dimension sickness” or something. Kirana found it very hard to believe that this was HER room- not someone else’s. It’s like I’m a different person, she thought.
Then she noticed a golden trunk, its top slightly open. Kirana walked over to it and opened it all the way. She coughed as dust flew out. Then she picked up the first thing- a gown. It was the most beautiful dress she’d ever seen. The gown was floor-length, made of the finest lilac satin credits could buy. I wonder if I ever wore this, Kirana thought. Then she saw something else- a pair of shoes. The shoes were silver and delicate, adorned with rainbow gems from Gallinore. Then Kirana saw a black, velvet box. She opened it and gasped. Inside was a diamond tiara, dainty and sparkling. I wonder if I ever wore THIS! Kirana thought.
Then something caught her eye - a book. It had a beat-up leather cover and was very different from the other items in the trunk. Kirana opened the book, which was really a diary- HER diary. She read the entries, which were not dated. She was amazed at what she found. One said:
“Dear Diary,
Today I went to the ball. I wore my new purple dress. It was so much
fun! I danced until my feet were killing me. With Andrien. I know that I
will marry him someday, even though he isn’t royalty. Also Mother told me she has
something for me. I wonder what it could be! She won’t tell me. I
have to wait until tomorrow.”
The next entry said:
“I can’t believe it! Mother told me she was very proud of me because I learned to use my Force powers in such a small amount of time. She gave me a present. It was her lightsaber! I will practice every day, until I’m really good at it.”
And yet another:
“I am now a master of the lightsaber. Also I levitated more than I usually could. I know I will be a Jedi someday.”
Kirana was stunned. “Do I still have Force talents?” she asked out loud.
“Yes,” said a voice. Kirana turned around. There was no one there. I must be going crazy, Kirana thought. Then she heard the voice again: “You are not going crazy, Kirana my dear.”
“Who’s there?” Kirana asked.
“Your mother,” said the voice. “Do you remember your dream? This is the last time I can contact you, so you must listen to me.” Kirana DID remember her dream, that was how she found out that she was Sailor Omwat. “You are highly attuned to the Force,” Clovetra went on, “and if you train enough, you will become a master of it. Also, you don’t know about one of your attacks - Death Kiss. All you do is blow a kiss, put special concentration into it, and... try it.” Kirana blew a kiss to the tapestry, and it burst into flames. She screamed. “Don’t be alarmed,” said Clovetra’s voice as the flames quickly diminished.
“Thank you for helping me,” Kirana said.
“You are very welcome. my daughter,” the voice said. Then it added, “Oh yes - one more thing. Look at the bottom of the trunk, in the secret compartment - AFTER I have gone.” Then, for a second, Kirana saw the image of her mother in all her glory. “I love you, my daughter,” she whispered, then faded away.
“I love you too,” Kirana replied. Then she removed everything from the trunk - beautiful clothes, expensive heirlooms. She opened the secret compartment and gasped.
In it was a lightsaber. It had a sleek, black handle that appeared brand new. There was a note in there with it. It said:
“Dearest Kirana,
I know I will no longer be in existence when you read this. I love
you, Kirana, and wish you well. This lightsaber is for you. Use it wisely,
Kirana. I know you will, since you are a wise person. Always remember
that I love you.”
Kirana’s eyes filled with tears. She picked up the lightsaber and pushed the “ignite” stud. A vivid violet blade sprang out. She swished it around a few times, then clipped it to her belt. It felt like it had always been there.
A day later...
“I’m glad you’re back, Kirana,” said Kendren.
Kirana smiled. “I missed you,” she said.
Kendren hugged her, and she stayed in his arms for what seemed like an eternity.
