The Vacation

Written by Kirana/Sailor Omwat

Kirana and her boyfriend Kendren were taking a trip to Corellia, just to get away from everyone else. They hadn't had any alone time for ages, with everyone being so busy and Coruscant being so... populated. So the trip to Corellia was the perfect way to getaway. At least that was what they thought at first.

Kirana looked out the window of Kendren's ship and sighed happily. Corellia was such a lovely place, with its cities and meadows. She knew they were going to have a great time on Kendren's home planet!

"I've never had a Nerf Burger before," Kirana said, laughing. They were having dinner at one of Corellia's famous fast food restaurants.

"Why are you laughing?" Kendren wondered. He noticed that his girlfriend had a hard time keeping a straight face.

"It's just that back on Earth, I always read Star Wars books and stuff where they ate things like this. And I always laughed imagining it. Now I'm the one doing it!" She laughed again.

"Kirana, I have a surprise for you," Kendren said when they left the restaurant.

"What is it?" she asked.

Kendren's green eyes sparkled. "Just follow me," he said. When they finally reached their destination, he uncovered her eyes.

Kirana gasped. They were standing in the middle of a lovely, romantic spot, with steep rocky hills and flowers carpeting the ground. The sun was setting, turning the sky into a sea of rainbows. "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen," Kirana whispered. It was also the most romantic.

Kendren put his arm around her. "I knew you would like it," he said to his future wife. She smiled and rested her head against his chest. They just sat there, holding each other and staring at the sky for a long time. Then it got dark, and they decided to go home.

"Kendren, thank you. For taking me here to this beautiful place. I..." she trailed off. Kirana really wanted to tell him that she loved him. But how much could a sixteen-year-old know about love? A lot, she decided. He was, after all, her husband in the future and the past.

"I love you, Kirana," he said, beating her to it.

She looked up in surprise. "I was just about to -"

Suddenly there was a flash of lightning against the now-dark sky. "What are you doing here, my young lovers?" asked an ominous-sounding voice. They looked up to see a man. He had long green hair and piercing blue eyes. A sword hung at his belt.

"Who are you?" Kirana asked, looking up at the mysterious man, who was standing on the rocks near the bottom of the mountain.

"I am Viriato," he said. The wind grew fiercer then, blowing his green hair around his body.

"What do you want with us?" Kendren asked. He had never heard of this 'Viriato' character in his life.

"People who trespass on my land must pay," Viriato said, his eyes narrowed. With a yell, he leaped off the rock and stood, sword drawn and facing Kendren. "Now I challenge you to a duel. Whoever wins... wins," he said.

"But I don't duel! I don't even have a sword! Why can't we just leave?" Kendren demanded.

"You must fight me," Viriato said.

"Let me fight," Kirana said, igniting her lightsaber.

"No. It must be him. He is the chosen one."

Kendren looked frightened. The chosen one? The chosen one for what? He didn't even own a sword! He had never done anything like this before! "I don't have a sword," Kendren said.

"Here." Out of nowhere, a glittering sword appeared and floated into Kendren's hands. "Use this one."

Kirana, meanwhile, had transformed into Sailor Omwat. "I am Sailor Omwat, Senshi of -"

"Shut up," Viriato said, rolling his eyes. "Even the Sailor Jedi can't defeat me. Or one of them at least." With a cruel laugh, he flung his arm out. A gust of wind hit Sailor Omwat, and she lay on the ground, not moving.

"You hurt Kirana!" Kendren cried in anger.

"I didn't hurt the girl, I just put a sleeping spell on her. She will not interfere," Viriato said. Then he turned to Kirana, who had miraculously woken up. However, she still couldn't move because her hands and feet were in chains.

"The duel will begin," Viriato said solemnly. Then, his eyes lighting up with evil, he struck at Kendren.

Kirana watched helplessly from her place on the soft flowers. She couldn't cry out, but she could cry. Tears streamed down her cheeks as the wind whipped through her hair and blew the stinging tears into her eyes. She could see that Kendren probably wouldn't make it.

Kendren clumsily swung at Viriato with the sword, but the green-haired man dodged it with a laugh. Despite the cold, windy weather, sweat ran down Kendren's face. Please, I don't want to fight anymore, he thought desperately.

"Prepare to be finished!" Viriato cried. He thrust his sword against Kendren's. When they touched, a bright light filled the landscape and both men were thrown across the field.

Kirana's eyes fluttered open as the cool mist blew across her face. The sun was just about to rise. She was no longer bound by chains; she didn't know why they were gone, and she didn't care. Then she remembered what had happened only a few hours ago.

"Kendren! Kendren, where are you?" she cried into the howling wind. She got no response. Then she saw something that made her heart stop. Kendren was lying, lifeless, on the ground. She ran over to him, tears forming in her eyes.

"Kendren, are you okay?" she asked, cradling his head in her arms. "Speak to me!" she cried. When she knew he was not going to reply, ever, she gasped a little and let her head drop.

"Kirana," said a voice. She turned around. Viriato was sitting up weakly a few yards away.

"You," she snarled, pulling out her lightsaber and igniting it. She ran over to him and pointed it at him. "You killed Kendren! I never even got to tell him that I loved him!" Kirana didn't seem to realize that Kendren dying wouldn't be possible - after all, how could Tejina exist? She was too full of grief to remember that.

"What are you talking about, Kirana? How could I kill myself? I - I defeated Viriato," he said, smiling weakly.

"What? You are Viriato! Stop messing with my mind!" she screamed, pressing her hands against her head.

"I'm Kendren," he said in confusion. "Just look at me, Kirana. What's wrong with you?"

"Wrong? Wrong? What's wrong with me?" she screamed. She held up a few silky green strands of hair. "This is what's wrong with me!" She shoved the hair in front of his eyes. "YOU ARE VIRIATO!"

But how could it be? Was he - Suddenly, Kendren gasped. He saw a body lifeless on the ground. His body. "Am I dead?" he asked.

"No! I mean yes! I mean no! Who are you really?" By now, Kirana was sobbing and hiccuping.

He got up and hugged her gently. "I am Kendren, Kirana. I promise you. Maybe we - switched bodies."

"Oh yeah, like I'm going to believe that," she sniffed, pushing his arm away.

Kendren was stunned. Kirana never acted this way! She was usually sweet and quiet. She was acting more like her daughter, Tejina, who was known for her big mouth and attitude. "Kirana, you have to believe me. I am Kendren," he said.

"Prove it," she said. Now she was sitting in a curled-up position, trying with little success to shield herself from the cold.

"In our past life, you were Jedi Princess Kirana of Omwat. I was Andrien," he whispered. "I even got you a locket for your birthday. Don't you remember that, Kirana?" He looked hurt.

Kirana gasped. This had to be her dear, sweet Kendren. It just had to. There was no way anyone else could know that. "So it really is you," she whispered.

"Yes," he said, throwing his arms around her. They laughed happily.

"So let me get this straight. You fought with this guy Viriato," Priire said, "and he died, but you... switched bodies?"

"I know it sounds weird," Kirana said. They were back at the Jedi Temple, and their friends were having a hard time believing their story.

"Not any weirder than Kleppa being able to age at will," Priire said with a shrug.

"Now you'll never tease me about my hair being dyed!" Kendren said happily.

"Um, yeah I will. Who has green hair?" Priire said, grinning slyly.

"Noooooo..."

"I didn't tell anyone but I, well... I have his sword-fighting abilities too," Kendren said. He pulled out the sword that used to belong to Viriato. "I can't believe it. I was always just a normal guy. Now I'm... a warrior. I can't believe all that changed so fast."

"But - but that's not Daddy!" Tejina cried. She pointed at Kendren. "Daddy has streaked hair that's not that long, and green eyes..."

"Wait, how does she see the old Kendren in the future if he switched bodies with Viriato?" Tashita asked.

"Maybe the future isn't really definite. But destiny is. I've learned that from Xarae," Kirana said.

"Yes. I've learned that the hard way," Xarae said, walking into the room.

"You mean - with Antimone?" Kirana asked.

"Yes." Xarae nodded and looked down. "No matter how much we may not like it, what has to happen, will happen. No one can control it. It's Destiny."
