Happy Birthday Kirana!

By Kirana/Sailor Omwat

Kirana looked up from the cat she was petting, Solai. “Yuki, where are you going?” she asked.

The ice-haired girl looked rushed. “Uh, nowhere. Bye!” She flew out the door. Kirana shrugged. Oh well, she thought. Everyone has the right to be weird sometimes, don’t they?

“Think about it, baby,” Solai said. Kirana looked at the cat. “She’s probably getting your birthday present!”

“My birthday? I forgot!” the pretty Omwati girl said. “Wow... now I’m curious!”

“Come on, Kairi-chan, we’re going to the store,” Priire said, dragging the younger girl.

“But Priire-”

“Just COME ON.”

“Where are you going?” Kirana asked.

“Oh, just to some stores and Burger Monarch for lunch. We’ll be back. Bye!”

“Where are we REALLY going?” Kairiku asked.

“Just where I said,” Priire replied. “We were going to get Kirana’s presents, remember?”

“Of course, it’s just... BURGER MONARCH???”

They went to the bookstore first.

“Look at this Priire! Sailor Jedi trading cards! They have them all! I’m going to get these and get everyone to sign them! It’ll be so hoth!”

“Ooh, look,” Priire said. “They have these cool artpads! Wow, they have Sailor Omwat! This is gonna be perfect!”

“Are we done?” Kairiku asked as they left the store.

“No, you’re forgetting Burger Monarch,” Priire said. She gave Kairi-chan a stern look when she saw a smile forming on her face.

“Two kiddie meals,” Priire said, daring the man behind the counter to make fun of her.

“Here you go,” he said, handing them to her.

“I have to see the toy!” Priire cried, frantically reaching into the bag. The other customers gave her very strange looks. Priire frowned. “Sith! I didn’t get Sailor Omwat. What about you, Kairi-chan?”

Kairiku giggled and held up her Sailor Yavin IV figure. “Look, she trips when you push this button!”

Priire sighed. “This Sailor Dathomir figure does me no good.” She stared at it. “Her hair is kinda cool though - oh yeah. I’ll get one, don’t worry,” she said. Priire marched up to the ordering place. “Excuse me,” she said as politely as possible, “do you have Sailor Omwat?”

“We don’t take requests, blondie,” the man said.

This enraged Priire. She drew her blaster and pointed it at him. “Give... me... Omwat,” she said.

“Okay,” the man said, scared. He raced into the back room and produced a Sailor Omwat figure in about fifteen seconds.

“It’s such a pleasure doing business with you,” Priire said in a sweet voice, and she and Kairiku left the restaurant.

On the day of Kirana’s birthday...

Kirana woke up very early. She got out of bed and was beginning to leave the room when she found Kairiku and Renako blocking the door.

“Um... can I get out?” Kirana asked.

“No!” Kairi-chan cried as Renako shook her head. “I mean,” Kairiku continued, “you should go back to sleep. It’s too early to wake up, you silly girl!”

“Go to sleep...” Renako sang.

Kirana was about to ask why they were up if it was so early, but she went back to sleep, to make them happy.

“Good, now we don’t have to guard the door,” she heard Kairiku say. “Chibis get the worst jobs.”

Kirana smiled and went back to sleep.

One hour later...

“Good, they’re gone,” Kirana said to herself, reaching the door. She was about to step into the hallway when she was met by a very wild-eyed Ciel.

“Hey! Kirana! Just the person I wanted to see! How about you and me go somewhere for breakfast or shopping or something!” Ciel looked almost desperate.

“Um... okay,” Kirana said.

“Good!” Ciel cried with relief. “I mean, oh good, we can go to Coruscant Café and then maybe the Coruscant MegaMall.”

“Okay...” Kirana said.

A few minutes later, they were having breakfast at the cafe.

I wonder if she knows it’s my birthday? Kirana thought. Nobody’s mentioned it...

After they ate breakfast, they spent a very long time at the mall. But Ciel wouldn’t let Kirana buy anything, for some reason...

“Well, we better go now,” Ciel said, checking her chronometer. It was past lunchtime. “It’s almost time for - I mean, the others will be worried.”

“Alright, Ciel, whatever you say,” Kirana said, a little confused.

When they reached the Jedi Temple, Ciel held up her hand. “Wait, Kirana,” she said. Before Kirana could answer, she ran in.

A couple minutes passed, and Kirana was getting worried. She decided to go in. “Hello?” she called. Everything was silent and deserted. She walked into the room behind the waterfall, to find it dark and deserted as well. Where is everybody? she wondered.

“SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” everyone cried, jumping out from their hiding places and turning on the lights. The huge room was decorated with purple, blue, and pink streamers and balloons, her favorite colors. There were two tables set up, one with food and one with a rainbow pile of presents.

There were tears in Kirana’s eyes. “You guys!” she cried. “There I was thinking you forgot about my birthday!”

“Happy birthday,” Yuki laughed, hugging her friend. She then put a crown made of shiny tinsel-garland with purple ribbons hanging down on Kirana’s pearlescent-haired head.

“Let’s eat!” Annika cried. Everyone laughed.

Kirana gasped when she saw her cake. It was a white cake with violet icing and dark purple candy roses. There were fifteen candles on it, and it was beautiful.

“Blow out the candles!” Minae cried after they sang the song. Kirana made a wish and blew out all of the candles. Everyone cheered and devoured the cake.

“Why don’t you open your presents now, Kirana?” Chikako suggested.

Kirana smiled and went over to the table. She was met with choruses of “open mine first!” Kirana picked up a rainbow-colored bag, from Minae. She opened it, lifted up the yellow tissue paper and smiled. Inside was a wooden box with carvings of flowers and stars, filled with beads and pearls from all over the galaxy.

“For you to make things with,” Minae explained.

“Thank you so much, Minae!” Kirana cried.

The next present was from Chouko. It was wrapped in dark purple paper with a purple bow. “This is so cool!” Kirana cried. “Holovids of Tenchi Muyo, one of my favorite shows from Earth! And it’s subtitled in English - er, Basic -too! Thank you, Chouko!”

Chouko, who winced a little when she said “Tenchi,” just smiled, while non-Earthborns asked, “What’s English?”

“I wonder who this could be from?” Kirana said, holding up a shiny, ice-blue package from Yuki. “Wow!” she cried when she opened it. Inside was a delicate crystal statuette of a seal diving into blue waves. “Thank you, Yuki! But how did you ever get it?”

“Very long story,” Yukiko laughed.

“Here, Kirana,” Ippin said, handing her a red-and-orange package. “This is so pretty!” Kirana cried. Ippin had given her a carved figure made of Corusca dust. “Thank you, Ippin!” Kirana exclaimed.

“It’s my new experiment,” Ippin said proudly.

“Open mine now,” Xarae said, handing Kirana a small, shimmery box. Kirana lifted the lid and gasped. Inside was an opal necklace with earrings to match.

“To match your hair,” Xarae said.

“Oh, thank you, Xarae,” Kirana said. “These are so beautiful!”

Chikako then handed her a pink-and-purple flowered bag with flowers tied onto the handles. Inside was a bouquet of purple flowers, a bag of candy and a picture frame.

“Thank you!” Kirana cried, admiring the beautiful silver frame.

Kairiku smiled. “Here, Kirana,” she said, handing her a sparkly turquoise tin box.

“How cool!” Kirana cried when she saw what was inside. “It’s Sailor Jedi trading cards! And they’re autographed! And, look, all the Guardians are holographic! Thanks, Kairi-chan!”

Annika handed her a light pink box. In it were a silver-plated brush and mirror, with her symbol etched on them. “Thank you Annika-chan - these are so pretty,” Kirana said.

“Well, since you have such unique and beautiful hair, I figured you could use something unique and beautiful to take care of it!” Annika said.

She then picked up a silver-and-black bag from Priire. Inside were drawing pencils, an artpad with Sailor Omwat on it, and a Burger Monarch Kid’s Meal figure of Sailor Omwat. Its hair sparkled when you turned it a certain way. “Wow, I have my own kid’s meal toy?” she asked incredulously. “I had no idea we were so famous! That’s so weird... but cool! Thank you, Priire!”

“Here, Kirana, this is for you,” Kendren said. He handed her a small velvet box in the shape of a heart.

Kirana could hear the less-mature people squealing, and she blushed. “Kendren, it’s gorgeous!” she cried, as she looked inside. Kendren had given her a diamond locket on a silver chain, straight from Arkania, the diamond capital of the galaxy. She opened the delicate diamond heart and looked inside. In it was a picture of Jedi Princess Kirana of Omwat and Andrien. It also played music-box music when she opened it. “Where did you get this?” she asked, looking at the picture from her past life.

“I had it before,” Kendren answered. “I thought it would remind you of our eternal love.”

“Awwwww,” everyone said as she kissed him.

“Open mine now!” Sutaru exclaimed, handing Kirana a white-and-purple bag.

“Wow, Suta-chan, this is so kawaii! Thank you!” Kirana exclaimed, holding up the dress Sutaru had given her. It was a pale purple minidress with short sleeves.

Next, the adorable Nijihoshi smiled shyly and handed Kirana her present - a giant, rainbow-colored lollipop. Kirana hugged the other pearlescent-haired girl. “Thank you, Nijihoshi!” she said.

When Kirana had opened all her presents, Renako stood up. “My present,” she said and, with Rune playing music in the background, began to sing. It was a song she wrote just for Kirana, and she had the prettiest voice.

Everyone applauded wildly, and Kirana hugged her. “That is better than anything anyone could buy,” she said.

Renako went to sit by her sister Koumi, smiling happily.

“Let’s make this a sleep-over,” Ippin suggested. So that’s what they did. They watched movies and talked for the rest of the night.

“You know, Kirana,” Sutaru said, “I remember my last birthday. I wanted so badly to have a funky hair color! I guess you don’t have those feelings.” She looked at Kirana’s pearlescent hair.

“Yeah, I think my hair’s ‘funky’ enough,” Kirana said, laughing.

“You know, I still kinda want funky hair...”

Kirana laughed again. “No you don’t. At least not on Earth. People must’ve thought I was one freaky mutant. Or something.”

Kirana would be considered beautiful here, with her pale blue skin, pearlescent hair and indigo eyes, but on Earth... that was another story.

“Let’s do impressions of people!” Kumoko suggested.

“Okay... guess who I am!” Kirana cried. She ignited her lightsaber and said in the most serious, snooty voice, “You must feel the Force, Anakin! If you don’t... um... it’s very bad for you...”

By then, everyone was laughing hysterically. “Hey, don’t make fun of my Obi-Wan!” Annika cried, but she was laughing too.

“Okay... guess!” Chouko cried. She bumbled around and said, “Whoa, mesa idiot...”

Everyone laughed hysterically - they knew how much she hated Jar Jar.

“Let’s play Truth or Dare!” Yuki cried.

“Okay... truth or dare, Shiku-chan?” said Lys.

“Um... dare,” the purple-haired girl said.

“Okay, you have to... go to Master Yoda and pretend like you’re madly in love with him.”

Everyone roared with laughter.

“What are the consequences?” she asked.

Lys thought hard. She really wanted her to do this, so she had to think of outrageous consequences.

“You have to go outside with underwear on your head and scream, ‘I belong in the looney bin!’ at the top of your lungs.”

Everyone laughed hysterically.

Shikuku sighed. “I’ll go with the first one,” she mumbled. “But I can say I’m just kidding, right?”

“Of course!” Lys giggled.

So Shikuku, followed by a lot of senshi, reluctantly went into Master Yoda’s room. “Oh, Master Yoda,” she cried with passion, throwing herself at the Jedi Master, “I love you! I...yearn for your little green body!”

By then, the Senshi were laughing so hard they could not breathe.

“It was a dare,” Shikuku said quickly. “Sorry to cause you any inconvenience...”

Yoda just stood there, shaking his head.

“I cannot believe I did that!” Shikuku cried. “I want revenge... Kirana, Annika, Nami, Minae and Kyoko... I dare you to go to the store - in senshi forms. See what happens.”

“Okay...” Kirana said, slightly confused.

They transformed and went to the store, with Shikuku, Lys, Xarae, and Kairiku looking like innocent customers.

“OH MY GOSH - IT’S SAILOR JEDI!” someone squealed.

“Look - there’s Sailor Naboo!”

“And Sailor Calamari! Wow!”

“Wow, look, Sailor Honoghr!”

Kirana made a silent vow to (jokingly) kill Shikuku.

“Sailor Omwat!” cried a boy about six years old, “you’re my dream girl! Marry me!”

Kirana tried to keep a straight face.

“Sailor Bakura, you’re my favorite!” a girl screamed. “Will you sign my action figure? And my trading card? And my shirt? And my poster and my book...”

The five senshi, along with their watching friends, ran quickly from the store (although Annika did give the girl her autograph).

When they got home, everyone talked for the rest of the night. It was the best birthday Kirana ever had.
